ABOUT
Welcome to Gumber Bothy
'A lovely place to get away from it all'.
Re-opening it's doors for what we hope will be another wonderful season. Gumber Bothy is a converted Sussex flint barn on a working sheep farm within the National Trust's Slindon Estate. It provides simple overnight accomodation or camping for walkers, horse riders and cyclists and organised groups are welcome. Gumber Bothy is located just off the South Downs Way, a tranquil and remote location to get away from it all and just enjoy the beauty of the area.
ACCOMMODATION
Whether you prefer the traditional camping experience or seek the comfort of a bothy, we have the perfect space for you to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
The bothy has 3 dorms with sleeping platforms. The largest dorm sleeps 16 and the smaller dorms sleep 4/5 people.
Access to the dorms is shared.
Please note: Bedding and towels are not provided.
OUR AMENITIES
At Gumber Bothy, we provide a range of amenities to enhance your camping experience, including access to a communal kitchen, clean shower facilities and toilets, and there is a designated BBQ area for outdoor cooking.
There is also a designated camp fire area and we offer firewood for purchase, ensuring that you can stay warm and cozy around the campfire under the starry night sky.
The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, 2 ovens along with crockery and cutlery.
Please note: There is no fridge or microwave .
We can provide a cool box if you need to keep things chilled.

THINGS TO DO
Enjoy the beauty of the local area
Whether you are walking or cycling, Gumber Bothy is nestled in the countryside and there are over 25 miles of public rights of way, so plenty to suit all ages and abilities. From hazel-shaded lanes and fields to woodland and hedgerows, there is a walk for every season.
Stargazing
Witness the breathtaking night sky as you stargaze from our campsite, far away from the glare of city lights. Gumber Bothy is within the South Downs Dark Sky Reserve.
Campfire Nights
Gather around the campfire with other guests and enjoy sharing stories and creating lasting memories.
'It's lovely to sit around chatting with a hot chocolate and some marshmallows'.
Wildlife Spotting
Watch out for birds of prey and owls. The bats are amazing to watch and often you will see deer and hares in the large field.
